Alana’s last morning in this god forsaken dungeon of a “hotlanta” condo. being “lazy pup” never looked so good.
And so, as the week begins to unravel its way back into itself, hinting closer at our moving date with every passing hour, myself and my co-pilot, Drew Gibadlo (of Downstairs Studios), have been on a manic dash to tie all loose ends here in Atlanta, Georgia before our big move to San Francisco, California next Monday!
After about 4 hours of extensive research through every viable option possible (including shipping my car to our new location and just grabbing a flight with our dogs), i do believe i’ve found the most economical and substantial way to move across the country with two people, my car, and our beautiful K9 companions, all for under $1000!
What have I learned? Well…

Hitches from UHAUL can be attached to most midsized cars… that would include my 2008 Nissan Sentra (note: if you own a 2006 or prior, your car is considered “compact” and you might need to consider other options)

um… TravelMath.com is flippin’ awesome.

esurance is now owned by ALLSTATE?!

Penske Truck Rentals hooks you up with a 20% discount if you’re a AAA member. Likewise, if you’re a student with an ID, they give you an additional 10% off….Round up a college kid and a friend with a AAA card if you need a truck!

And finally… Flo (from Progressive) isn’t the biggest fan of Erin (from esurance).
but i digress… 5 days!!!
I think i’m going to create a micro-series for the move as we roll along to the best coast next week… be on the lookout for that! And also, if you missed the launch of “Tutorial Tuesday” yesterday… check it out below!
As this month dwindles down, so do my creative projects. I seem to have taken on somewhere around 5 project at once with no room for breathing.
Why would I do such a thing? Well, as stated before, the move across the country is happening in Febraury… and with less than 2 weeks left here in “hotlanta”, cramming all of my client’s needs before we leave is the only option.

I’ve been on a mad dash to the finish with my latest motion graphics commercial which opens in a “typography style” manner, and then follows a website fly-thru to explain exactly how the service works. Very intricate stuff.
The last creation of the month is the development of “Tutorial Tuesdays”, where every week I’ll post a new youtube video dedicated to video tutorials from questions I’ve gathered throughout the past few months from people who have seen my work and wondered how I attack certain aspects of my productions.
the series begins tomorrow. stay tuned.
it’s lonely nights of solitude, such as tonight, that truly make me smile. funny to note that less than 11 months ago, the thought of silence in this god forsaken condo of mine scared me shitless. now, i long for it more than anything.
what i’ve learned from 2011 is that most everyone in this unacceptably small city and metropolitan area that we call “Hotlanta”, has a hard time with the concept of understanding this loneliness. it’s scary as hell. yes. but when you learn to accept yourself vs. something someone is trying to make you… you reach a form of euphoria that’s indescribable with the keys on this keyboard or the words that will ever leave my lips.
those who have a grasp onto this acceptance of solitude, i congratulate you in understanding what it is to be human… and not a comfortable mess.
comfort is death, always, and this town is swarming with zombies.
it’s times like tonight that keep me creatively fueled. it’s solitude like this that keeps me longing for something so out of reach that all i can do is push forward. and it’s moments like these where i realize how much i’ve overcome in the past year, all of the situations that i’ve walked away from because i no longer settle for anything less than what i truly want, and the fact that i’ve developed a blacklist of people longer than i really care to count is something i never thought i was capable of doing. sometimes, this is absolutely necessary… and it’s taken me an entire year to accept the notion.
this hell of a manic-depressively awesome year is finally winding down… and there’s PLENTY to be excited for at the top of 2012:
-there’s a moving date to the best coast already set.
-there’s a (secret) drunkumentary “farewell video” that’s currently in post.
-there’s some production set in Dubai, Saudi Arabia at the beginning of the year.
-there’s a trip planned to Australia to see the solar eclipse next May.
-there’s a trip to Spain planned sometime in October for my birthday.
next year will be the one that i’ve been waiting for my entire life. yet, if 2012 is even remotely close to the latter parts of this year… i can still dig it.
no bullshit this time. just love.
