As my band gets closer to finalizing the new album, LeCartney, we thought we’d give you guys one more preview of the tracks before we release the LP later this month.
This one’s called “Hold Up”. If you like it, please make sure to reblog!
Check it ouuuttttt…
Lyrics:
Setting sail to the sun by the pier
Tanning oil and a cooler of beer…
As myself and my co-pilot, Drew Gibadlo, crossed through the northern sector of Arizona to get to San Francisco and start our company expansions last week, we decided to check into a hotel for the evening to catch some rest. However, once settled in our temporary room with the heater on full blast and untouched snow sitting outside of our window, we were somehow inspired to bring in 1/3rd of our studio equipment from the car and begin tracking a song that I wrote for our band, Livid Ends, a few weeks ago entitled “Method Actor”.
I did all of the midi creation, guitaring, and scratch vocals in Apple’s GarageBand using a midi keyboard/ drum pad and the ZOOM H4N just a few weeks prior to our trip. Once we established all of our setup in the hotel room, Drew began tracking our new vocals in the previous GarageBand session using a MacBook Pro and a makeshift sound booth made of pillows, curtain backings, and a “proliferation diffuser”… aka- a long sofa mattress.

The next morning, as we drove onward towards San Francisco, Drew spent the majority of the afternoon mixing “Method Actor” in Apple Logic, using his laptop and my car’s AUX speaker system.
The outcome was definitely great! This is a song that will absolutely catch on with our fans as it’s more of an evolved version of our past musical styles.
We’re one song closer to completing the Livid Ends album, LeCartney! As we finalize our new studio setup in San Francisco, we’ll be knocking out the rest of our jams in the next month, as well as shooting our music video.
Can’t wait for you guys to hear and see the new stuff!
[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]
So as many of you know, my band, Livid Ends, has been hard at work in the studio recording our upcoming album “LeCartney”. Here is a short preview of one of our newer jams to get you pumped up and feeling ready for what is yet to come!
No time. NO TIME! I decided to do a video blog instead to tell you guys what I’ve been up to in the last few days of January. Check it out!

Recently, my “creation challenge” for January has taken so much time out of me that I haven’t been able to post daily! That’s definitely not a bad thing, but I’m trying my best to document everything done thoroughout this month, so I’ll go ahead and lump sum up January 16th - January 22nd:

Created an album sampler cover and a few more recordings to add to my band, Livid Ends’, upcoming EP entitled, “LeCartney”. Check out one of the new tracks off of the EP below!
“THREE FORTY-FIVE” by Livid Ends <— Click to play.
The Sampler is currently processing and will be available in the Android Market, iTunes, Amazon, etc. by the end of this month.

My Co-Pilot, Drew Gibadlo, and myself were invited on the airwaves of “One Hour Photo”, with hosts, Anderson Smith and Jillian Hayes. We spoke about what’s in store for Acosta Productions as well as Downstairs Studios for 2012, and how SOPA, a law that threatened our internet freedom, needs to be stopped. We also called the Georgia Senator’s office and were hung up on… twice. Full Video Below:

Shot 6 interview segments for our client, Eve Wright

Interviewed gynecologist, Ken Taylor, learned a LOT about the female anatomy… and debunked the “fertility position myths” on his first of several upcoming video interview segments.

Created a video shout out to our favorite girl on the best coast (and new home), Kate Gervais, for her birthday!

Yesterday was spent in the studio with Drew Gibadlo, working on two new upcoming tracks from our band, Livid Ends.
The first is a song entitled, “Three Forty-Five”, which was written by Drew, Janine DeMichele, and myself (Jon Acosta) back in late July of 2011. We tracked this song’s basic vocal and rhythmic instruments, but never got around to finishing it… until last night.
my god, man. it is now beautiful. now, rather than showing you a preview of it, how about a quick sneak peak behind the studio speakers…
As it’s being mixed, Livid Ends is also working on its first music video which will be shot partially in Atlanta, as well as San Francisco, throughout the next two months.
Riveting! as always.

Just catching up on my “creation period” for January… seems that I’ve slacked a bit with posts this week. Time to recap!!!

JANUARY 9: Compositing

Started creating compositions in After Effects for project listed above.
JANUARY 10: Pre-Production Conference Call

JANUARY 11: “Dino Partayyy!” Time-lapse

Created a fun time-lapse entitled “Dino Partayyy!”. (major thank you to the wonderful Miss Kate Alice Gervais for the idea and props!)
JANUARY 12: Music Recording w/ Livid Ends

Created some music with Drew Gibadlo and Dane Alves of my band, Livid Ends. Laid down drums for a song that we started tracking back in July, entitled “Three Forty-Five”, featuring the super talented, Janine DeMichele on keys.
OKAY! I think that puts us up to speed.
What have I learned from the past days and all of this creation? I can tell you now…
…never lose sight of your twelve year-old self. ever.
yes. resolutions are always a blast to make and even easier to break…
instead, what i’ve decided to do this month is hyperfocus my entire January 2012 into a “creation period”.
for the next 31 days following December 31st, 2011, I am to create SOMETHING every single day. Whether it be a video tutorial post, a guitar lick, a full fledged song, live recording session, client shoot / promotional, write scenes for upcoming productions, a time lapse, or anything else… it has to be a “digitally tangible” entity that can be enjoyed by the masses, because that’s what i do… i tell stories through the medium of art. and with less than 31 days in this god forsaken town that i currently reside in… i’d say it’s important to make every one of them count.
naturally, i’ll be documenting my creations via this tumblr blog, so just be prepared to see them daily.
and now to catch up… because it is currently January 4th:
JANUARY 1: …uh. recovery period. created a concoction for a hangover…
JANUARY 2:

Created 5 video interview samples for Global Restaurant Consultant, Aaron Allen (client)
JANUARY 3:

Created Guru account and code for upcoming AcostaProductions.com website.
JANUARY 4:

Created 4 video proposals for upcoming projects & an outline for my upcoming e-book that I’m writing
whew. okay. i think we’re up to speed here… lots to come as i’ve got 5 original productions as well as 2 music videos to shoot before I’m out. no time… NO TIME!! ah!

In 2004, myself and my now co-pilot in this creative vision of cinematic art, Drew Gibadlo, started an acoustic music project from the ashes of a previous band that we were playing in at the time.
