As my band gets closer to finalizing the new album, LeCartney, we thought we’d give you guys one more preview of the tracks before we release the LP later this month.
This one’s called “Hold Up”. If you like it, please make sure to reblog!
Check it ouuuttttt…
Lyrics:
Setting sail to the sun by the pier
Tanning oil and a cooler of beer…
As myself and my co-pilot, Drew Gibadlo, crossed through the northern sector of Arizona to get to San Francisco and start our company expansions last week, we decided to check into a hotel for the evening to catch some rest. However, once settled in our temporary room with the heater on full blast and untouched snow sitting outside of our window, we were somehow inspired to bring in 1/3rd of our studio equipment from the car and begin tracking a song that I wrote for our band, Livid Ends, a few weeks ago entitled “Method Actor”.
I did all of the midi creation, guitaring, and scratch vocals in Apple’s GarageBand using a midi keyboard/ drum pad and the ZOOM H4N just a few weeks prior to our trip. Once we established all of our setup in the hotel room, Drew began tracking our new vocals in the previous GarageBand session using a MacBook Pro and a makeshift sound booth made of pillows, curtain backings, and a “proliferation diffuser”… aka- a long sofa mattress.

The next morning, as we drove onward towards San Francisco, Drew spent the majority of the afternoon mixing “Method Actor” in Apple Logic, using his laptop and my car’s AUX speaker system.
The outcome was definitely great! This is a song that will absolutely catch on with our fans as it’s more of an evolved version of our past musical styles.
We’re one song closer to completing the Livid Ends album, LeCartney! As we finalize our new studio setup in San Francisco, we’ll be knocking out the rest of our jams in the next month, as well as shooting our music video.
Can’t wait for you guys to hear and see the new stuff!

Yesterday was spent in the studio with Drew Gibadlo, working on two new upcoming tracks from our band, Livid Ends.
The first is a song entitled, “Three Forty-Five”, which was written by Drew, Janine DeMichele, and myself (Jon Acosta) back in late July of 2011. We tracked this song’s basic vocal and rhythmic instruments, but never got around to finishing it… until last night.
my god, man. it is now beautiful. now, rather than showing you a preview of it, how about a quick sneak peak behind the studio speakers…
As it’s being mixed, Livid Ends is also working on its first music video which will be shot partially in Atlanta, as well as San Francisco, throughout the next two months.
Riveting! as always.
-Jon Acosta

I normally wouldn’t advertise an application on my tumblr but Spotify is definitely an acception. Since I’m a die hard user and absolute fan of the music engine behemoth, I couldn’t help but share this with you guys!

I’ve been a user of Spotify’s Premium Service ($10/month) for some time now. The benefits of this are that you can search any artist, album, or song and stream it over 3G or Wifi right from your smart phone. Likewise, if you find yourself with no signal or internet access, you can pre-sync your music and playlists to your phone and keep on rockin’ out.

Without the premium account, you can still look up music and create playlists on the fly, however, you’re limited to your computer only. Music cannot be synced to your harddrive and is not accesible from your phone.
This holiday season Spotify is offering a 30 days premium trial for free. As an advocate of the app and the fact that it’s just plain awesome, do yourself a favor this Christmas and get the gift of this badass European based music sharing miracle… for free!

You’re welcome. ;)
and Merry Christmas, everyone!
